Sovereign is a hop in the classic English style. It has a light, sweet, floral character which can develop into subtle hints of fruit, a strong spicy / blackcurrant flavour and good alpha characteristics.

Sovereign can be used a refreshing alternative to Fuggles and Goldings in both light and dark beers and has also proven to be successful in Pilsners, Helles and Wheat beers.

Developed at Wye College by Dr Peter Darby, the Sovereign hop variety is from an open pollination made in 1995. It is a grand-daughter of Pioneer and great, great grand-daughter of WGV.

These UK grown top brewing industry quality leaf hops (also known as hop flowers and hop cones) have been vacuum packed in a heavy duty resealable pouch with a tamper proof seal to preserve their freshness and quality.
